HOLIDAY ROADTRIP 2007

On December 27, 2007, we departed on a roadtrip that took us to New York City (to see the lights and windows and to visit Phil's parents), Windham Mountain in the Catskills (for snow tubing), Philadelphia (to see the city) and Hockessin, Delaware (to visit Phil's sister Suzie and her family and to spend New Year's Eve with them).

Our adventures are chronicled below. But we'll start with two photos from probably the day that was the most fun - December 29 - the snow tubing day.

ON THE ROAD TO NEW YORK

More photos from our Winter 2007 roadtrip. These are from the two day trip from our home to Phil's parents home in Floral Park, NY.

Lulu arrives in Staten Island

Stuck in traffic and scenes from the road on I-278 in Staten Island.

The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge (the first photo is of Staten Island from the bridge/the last is of Lulu arriving in Coney Island, Brooklyn).

Coney Island
We were all hungry by the time we crossed the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge into Brooklyn, so we stopped for a hot dog at the world famous, original Nathan's in Coney Island. (Immortilized in the Drifter's song, Under The Boardwalk: "From the park you can hear the sound of the carousel, you can almost taste the hot dogs and french fries they sell, under the boardwalk, down by the sea...") We also stopped to see the world famous Cyclone - one of the few remaining wood rollercoasters in America.

THE WINDOWS AND THE TREE

On the evening of December 28 we travelled into Manhattan to take in the sites of the city during the holidays. The original plan had us skating at Rockefeller Center. Unfortunately, the line was several hours long and then it started to rain.

Taking photos on the streets of New York is always challenging because of the number of people who can walk right into you focul point. This issue gets worse during the Christmas season. I bring the to your attention since many of the photos contain persons that I do not know. I did my best to keep this down to a minimu, but...

Here are the photos from that outting:

Saks also had a snowflake light show which was synchronized to Christmas music. It was best seen from across 5th Avenue. Here are a few photos:
